Bold ideas. Curious humans. A shared stretch across generations. Your $20 donation supports the Prouty Project Stretch Fund at the Minneapolis Foundation.
Inspired by Harvard professor and author John Kao, Jeff Prouty attended a conference to hear him speak about his book, Jamming: The Art and Discipline of Business Creativity. That spark became Jammin’ Sessions, built on the belief that curiosity changes everything.
“It took a Chinese American student listening to jazz and jamming with a group of African Americans at a private boarding school to internalize the polar tensions between musical score and improvisation and come up with a formula for creativity… In business, the score is not a musical theme but an idea, process or question that takes on new dimensions when bandied about by a group…This business version of jamming, Kao says, is the creative advantage that can give a company a competitive edge.” From the Publishers Weekly review of Kao’s book.
Since then, The Prouty Project has hosted multiple “jams” a year!
Established in 2005, the Stretch Fund exists to help kids ages 6–18 practice leadership in real ways—by taking risks, stepping forward, and discovering what they’re capable of. As the Fund grows toward $2 million, its focus turns outward, giving back to children and education. Supported by the Minneapolis Foundation, this work is rooted in the belief that when people come together with purpose, possibility follows.
“The Minnesota Twins salute the work of The Prouty Project and their impact on organizations like ours. They have made significant contributions to the Twins on so many fronts including leadership development, strategic planning and team building.”
